In 2020, lithium iron phosphate batteries, with their long cycle life advantage, were the first to open up the energy storage market with a specification of 280Ah, quickly replacing traditional batteries as the mainstream choice for power stations. Subsequently, manufacturers represented by CATL launched 300Ah+lithium iron phosphate batteries, pushing the industry into the era of large capacity. As of 2023, although 280Ah still dominates, leading companies have accelerated the layout of 500Ah+ultra large battery cells, further consolidating the leading position of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the field of large-scale technology. But as the capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries jumps from 300Ah+to 500Ah+, the safety controversy continues to escalate. Industry analysis believes that although lithium iron phosphate batteries have high safety genes, the structural design, heat dissipation performance, and material stability of ultra large battery cells still need to be broken through to balance the contradiction between capacity and safety.
