Overseas "crazy rush" for lithium iron phosphate batteries! China dominates the global market as demand for energy storage systems surges.

Recently, China Energy Construction's 2025 lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system centralized procurement bidding has attracted attention. The estimated total capacity of the project is as high as 25GWh, breaking the domestic energy storage system centralized procurement record, reflecting the strong demand for lithium iron phosphate batteries in the global market. Under the overseas "crazy rush" situation, China, as the world's core lithium iron phosphate battery manufacturer, is accelerating its high ground with its technology, production capacity and supply chain advantages.

Overseas orders have exploded: Longpan Technology's Lithium Source (Asia Pacific) and Yiwei Lithium Energy Malaysia signed a 152,000-ton lithium iron phosphate cathode material supply agreement (2026-2030) with an amount of more than 5 billion yuan; previously, its 5-year orders with Blue Oval (Ford battery factory) and LG New Energy totaled more than 1.5 million tons, with an amount of more than 15 billion yuan, creating the "world's largest lithium iron phosphate order". Chinese energy storage companies signed overseas orders for lithium iron phosphate energy storage exceeding 150GWh in 2024, and nearly 100GWh by May 2025, covering the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and other places - Saudi Arabia 24GWh, UAE 19GWh, Chile 4.5GWh and other large orders frequently appeared, and Chinese companies such as BYD, Sungrow Power Supply, and Ruipu Lanjun became the main force.

Capacity expansion and localization layout are accelerating simultaneously: Envision Power's Douai factory in France plans to build a 24GWh capacity (expandable to 40GWh) in 2030; Haichen Energy Storage's US factory has been put into production, with an annual output of 10GWh battery modules and systems; Longpan Technology's Indonesian base (the world's first overseas lithium iron phosphate production base) has mass-produced a 30,000-ton production line in the first phase, helping to avoid policy risks.

It is worth noting that Korean battery companies are catching up at an accelerated pace: Samsung SDI and LG Energy Solution plan to mass-produce lithium iron phosphate batteries in 2027 and 2025 respectively, and LG Energy Solution has invested in Longpan Technology's Indonesian base to strengthen the supply chain; SK On plans to mass-produce in 2026. At present, Chinese lithium iron phosphate battery manufacturers account for more than 70% of the global market share, and lithium iron phosphate batteries account for more than 90% of the energy storage field. With high safety and cost advantages, they have become the "absolute mainstream".

In the global new energy track, Chinese lithium iron phosphate batteries are leading the overseas market with the triple advantages of "technology + production capacity + orders", and the competition around their localized supply may reshape the global energy storage industry landscape.
