Graphite was exempted from reciprocal tariffs by the United States on China: the lithium-ion battery supply chain is good
Recently, the White House announced that natural graphite imported from China will be exempted from reciprocal tariffs. Graphite is the core raw material of lithium-ion battery anode materials, which is essentially a strategic retreat from the dominance of the new energy industry, exposing the fragility of the US supply chain, but it will also boost the lithium-ion battery (LiB) industry chain. With the tariff exemption, U.S. manufacturers can reduce the cost of purchasing lithium-ion battery components and alleviate supply chain pressures caused by surging global demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. This policy is also in line with the global trend of clean energy transition, and lithium-ion batteries are still the core technology to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
