April 16, 2024 —— The Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently announced that its team has discovered a breakthrough phenomenon in the research of lithium-rich manganese-based cathode materials: the cathode material of lithium batteries exhibits controllable shrinkage characteristics when heated, and can repair the electrode structure through heat triggering, significantly restoring the battery capacity attenuation problem.
